Torre de Belém

Torre_de_belem Torre de Belém (Belem Tower) is a fortified tower located in the Belém district of Lisbon, built in the 16th century in the Manueline (Portuguese Gothic style) to commemorate the expedition of Vasco de Gama. A memorial to the Portuguese power during the Age of the Great Discoveries, this elegant and defensive construction is one of the most popular symbols of the city.
