AveiroAveiro is a city and the seat of the municipality of Aveiro and also the capital of the Aveiro District, located on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean. It is famous for its traditional sweets, the ovos-moles and the trouxas de ovos, both made from eggs. Sometimes it is called "The Portuguese Venice", for its canals and boats that remind of the Italian city of Venice, as the city faced similar problems when it tried to conquer the water. The city is also famous for its production of salt and seaweed harvest, used for fertilizer in the area. It has a great historical heritage, since its dates back to the 10th century, and has many historical buildings to visit, like the Convento de Jesus from the 15th century.
